Welcome to Kindy’s page
I’m Kathy Son and our teaching assistant is Teacher Geumhee.
In the Kindy class, the children are always busy exploring the world around them and playing and enjoying each other. The Units of Inquiry we cover this year are ‘Friends’, ‘People Who Help’, ‘Machines’, ‘Plants’, and ‘Visual Art.'
The inquiry unit this tem is ‘Visual Art.’ The central idea is “People use different forms of visual arts to convey their individuality to themselves and others.” We will inquire into “Different forms of visual arts”, “The imaginative use of materials and processes for creative exploration” and “Responses to our own and other artists’ work to inform future work.”
During the unit, the children will inquire into different forms of visual art by looking at various artwork of present and past artists. We will visit art galleries, find books in the library and look at paintings in the classroom. They will also have many opportunities to express their own ideas and feelings through creating different kinds of art. They will paint using different tools, make models using materials, and try other forms of visual art.
The two learner profiles we focus on in the unit are ‘Reflective’ and ‘Open minded’. The children will be encouraged to reflect on artwork of others and their own work.
