Board Details
In collaboration with the Principal, they determine such areas as school fees, enrolment policy, the annual budget and any major capital expenditures. It is through the Board that the school is able to plan its growth for the future.
Board members are voted onto the Board by the parents of the school, and have a two-year term of office. It is important to remember that the school has no owner. It is a non-profit organisation, guided by a Board that is elected by the parents.
The Board is made up of a chair, treasurer, secretary, four parent representatives and three non-parent representatives. The Principal is an ex-officio member of the Board. The Board meets at regular intervals to overview the development of the school and revise policy.
Members of the school community are encouraged to stand for Board membership and to also nominate suitable candidates for the non-parent positions. Board members are often outstanding members of the community who may also have financial, business or educational experience that they can bring to the school. Being a Board member is a voluntary position, for which there is no salary. It is a demanding role but ultimately very satisfying and rewarding.
