Sport
Sport
The International School of Busan sports programme provides students with a range of enjoyable educational opportunities within which they can develop an appreciation for, and the ability to participate in, sport as a lifelong activity.
The sports programme consists of a compulsory intraschool component, a selection of elective afterschool activities, and several interschool carnivals and tournaments where students are given the opportunity to represent the school.
Intraschool Sport
All students participate in weekly intraschool sports. They compete for their school house (i.e. Jirisan, Hallasan, Soraksan) in a range of team sports such as soccer, netball, touch rugby, softball, basketball, netball and field hockey. The school’s annual track and field and cross country carnivals are also conducted in houses.
Afterschool Sport Electives
At the conclusion of the academic day, students may elect to participate in a range of sporting activities. These sessions either occur on campus at the International School of Busan or offsite at specialised sporting venues. Different sports are offered each afternoon and vary from term to term depending largely upon the season.
Interschool Sport
In addition to the weekly sports programme, students have the opportunity to represent the school at a number of interschool carnivals and competitions across the year. These range from “friendly” trips to other international schools, to organised competitive games and carnivals involving a number of schools. Each year we host an interschool track and field carnival involving several other international schools from the region.
