Welcome to Design Technology at ISB

The subject of Design Technology covers a wide range of activities and skills.  At its heart, design Technology is about problem-solving via a formal design process. Solutions to such problems can be graphical, mechanical, structural and/or electrical, involving the use of specialist tools, machines, materials and other subjects. Design Technology can be thought of as the creative appliance of science: the place where Art meets Science. 

Middle School Design Technology at ISB offers an environment for students to build upon the skills and knowledge they have already acquired.  As early as elementary school students are taught the Design Process, and later, in middle school, they are proficient at taking on increasingly sophisticated, sometimes term-long, independent projects.  They are able to study in greater detail what is needed in terms of materials, mechanisms, structures, electronics, CAD-CAM, and graphics. Projects at this level culminate with a final piece of work, the evidence of great planning and forethought.
