About Us

Middle School - Social Studies

Welcome to ISB Middle School Social Studies

Social Studies is alive and well at the International School of Busan (ISB). We aim to provide students with a stimulating examination of the key elements of a solid humanities-based education. In the Social Studies faculty at ISB, we believe that every student needs a vibrant and exciting exposure to the study of Geography and History.

Tell me and I'll forget. Show me, and I may not remember. Involve me, and I'll understand.

       -Native American saying

The idea quoted above has crept its way back into the world of education, and is true of many middle school students.  In Social Studies at ISB, efforts are made to create an understanding of humanities without the boundaries of the classroom walls.  Students at this age are starting to wonder where the fit into this world, and are provided an opportunity to figure that out.  The Social Studies faculty aims to generate an on-going interest amongst the student body, a that in order to ensure the future of Planet Earth we need to respect it and care for it.  Students will learn the importance of understanding the past and present, to better prepare their own future in the World.
