High School Korean for Koreans

These courses are designed to develop and enhance Korean language skills for Korean students, as well as for foreigners from an intermediate to university entry level. The classes are designed to teach students interpersonal, interpretive, and presentation skills, and moreover, the structure of the Korean language.

Grade 9 and 10 - IGCSE Korean

In Grade 9 and 10 we focus on the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) syllabus in order to prepare students for IGCSE examinations. There are two Korean IGCSE exams, Reading and Writing, each for a duration of two hours. In both years of the programme there are two set works to study, where students must  develop their comprehension skills, descriptive writing ability, and persuasive writing techniques. 

Grades 11 & 12 - IB Korean

In Grades 11 and 12 students can take Korean as part of their IB Diploma. There are several possibilities depending on a student's level of Korean and where the student wishes to target their strengths when they are selecting their options.

All students have to choose a Language A and a Language B. For example, a student with Korean as their first language would choose to do Korean as their Language A option and use their English or Spanish as Language B. Students can also do two Language A exams (eg Korean and English) and so achieve a special bilingual certificate. Such decisions can be difficult to make, so at the start of the course students are advised and guided to make the best decisions regarding their Korean options for IB.
