While the weather this week has been hot, muggy and rainy, the learning activities in our school have been bright, energetic and vibrant! I love to see our students coming to school with smiles on their faces and a bounce in their step when I greet our students in the morning and at the end of the school day. I am so impressed by our student’s eagerness to learn and inquire!   I am also pleased with their thoughtful and positive reflections as they share their learning highlight of the day as they depart for home at the end of the school day. Our students truly are exploring and discovering something new each and every day as they become agents of change for the future! As we approach the end of August and begin our third week of school, we can see visible signs of our community coming together and strengthening, however, we cannot do it without you!

Did you know that decades of research show that when parents are involved in their children’s education, students have higher levels of academic success, increased motivation for learning, and higher self-esteem? Additionally, the most effective forms of parent involvement are those which engage parents in working directly with their children on learning and inquiry activities. What you do, as parents, makes a significant difference in your son or daughter’ learning! Thanks for joining us in this important development process! YOU are the Cornerstone of our Community!

A personal highlight for me this past week has been to meet our new parents at our first monthly parent coffee and to support our new PTA as they seek your involvement this school year. I was thrilled with the record turn-out of over 40 parents to our first coffee of the year at BIFS! Thank you all for your participation and presence! It is all about working together, in collaboration, so that our children learn, grow, and develop. As I and our PTA shared at the coffee – we need you! Please get involved!

Go BIFS! Go Bears!
Have a great weekend!
