Each year, Grade 11 and Grade 12 students write mid-year exams in December. This year exams will be conducted from December 1st to December 12th. We have decided to spread the exams out to give students time to adequately prepare. It is important that students have the opportunity to practice the skills required to write exams over an extended period of time to prepare for World Exams in May of their Grade 12 year.
Exams will include IB style questions, similar to those that would be on the World Exams. Students are exposed to these types of questions on a regular basis. Writing these exams will also give students practice in planning and organizing their responses to questions over a two-hour time frame. This is something that students would not have exposure to during a regular classroom block of 80 minutes.
Most exams will begin at 1:30 and end at 3:30. The block times are included in the chart below.
Attendance is mandatory. We are trying to put students in a setting similar to the World Exams. Students risk receiving a score of zero if they are not in attendance for each of their scheduled exams.
