This week saw BIFS men’s high school basketball team in action for the first time. The team traveled to Sacheon (about two hours west of Busan) where they played in the opening round of the 2016 SKAC tournament. The greatest challenge the Bears faced was playing with only two practices. However, the team opened the season 3-0 with a win against Hyundai International School, followed by commanding victories over Global Prodigy Academy and Daegu International School. Sergei Son, Liam Robb and Chris Sim played like the team captains they are by imposing assertive play, followed by a strong supporting cast of new and veteran players. December 6th, the Bears will travel to Busan Foreign School to play against the other three teams in the SKAC league (Busan, Gyeongnam and Kwangju Foreign Schools). Based on these six games, the top four teams will move on to the semi-finals championship games. So, be sure not to miss the 2016-17 BIFS Bears in action while they’re hot!

The HS Girls basketball team traveled to their first tournament of the season this past weekend to GIFS for the SKAC Divisionals. With only having 2 practices before this tournament, the girls showed their intensity and natural athletic ability as we beat 2 of the 3 teams we played. We are all looking forward to the season ahead, knowing that we have already built team spirit and a desire to work hard to be successful.
