Middle School Halloween Dance

A wonderful night, superbly organised by the Middle School Student Council. The Middle High Hall was beautifully decorated, plenty of food available and great outfits. Even the teachers got in on the act! Well done to the Council.

Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences

Grades 6-12

Thursday – November 8.

On Thursday, 8th November (1:00 pm – 8:00 pm)  we will be hosting Student-Parent-Teacher (Three-Way) Conferences. Students will have a half-day schedule on Thursday (see below), so they will not miss any of their scheduled classes during that day (50-minute classes). There will be NO classes scheduled on Friday, 9th November, as it is a staff Professional Development day. Students are encouraged to attend the conferences with their parents. Attending the conferences, with your child gives you the opportunity to meet with each of your child’s teachers and discuss “next steps” for their improvement.  By involving students, we are inviting them to play an active role in their learning. Students should be actively discussing their progress and develop a plan for improvement. To ensure that you get the most out of the experience it is important to speak with your child, review their report cards and identify any areas that you would like to explore in more depth with the teacher during the conferences.

Date: Thursday, 8th November

Time: Thursday (1:00 – 8:00)

Location: Gymnasium

All Secondary teachers will be available for arena-style conferences in the gym (no sign-up).  This means you will have the opportunity to visit all of your student’s teachers.  We have set a guideline of five minutes to allow everyone to have the chance to talk with each of their teachers.  If you need more time, however, you can continue your conversation up to ten minutes. We are eager for each family to find value in these meetings and thus invite you to request a separate meeting with the teacher(s) should you find this time inadequate or can not attend the conference day.

Dragons Den

The culmination of the Individuals and Societies, English and Design Departments Interdisciplinary Unit was the Dragon’s Den presentations. The students in grade 8 rose to the occasion with wonderful designs and well-rehearsed presentations. They spoke confidently to the panel of ‘Dragons’ – in truth the panel was made up of teachers and members of our parent body!

Girls Volleyball

A big congratulations to the girl’s high school volleyball team for bringing home the SKAC Championship trophy. If you weren’t there… you missed it! The semifinals and finals were especially exciting with some of the best volleyball the girls have played all season. If you see them around today, acknowledge the hard work, effort, and dedication they have put into learning to play volleyball, but more importantly, learning to trust and play as a ‘team’. I present to you the 2018 SKAC Girl’s High School Volleyball Champions!!!!
