Grade Level Camps
Last week was ‘Camp Week’ in the Middle and High School. Students from grades 6-12 were involved in exploring various regions of the Korean Peninsula as they enjoyed exciting outdoor adventures, challenging climbing courses, high ropes courses, cycling and hiking trails as well as using the camps to get to know different people in their classes. The Week of College Fairs at BIFS
GJ Johnson, our College Counselor at BIFS has worked extremely hard to arrange three College Fairs at school this past week. The planning has been meticulous and the delivery just as good! We have had in excess of 60 Universities visit the BIFS Campus in the past week alone! The benefits to our students are massive. The students are being exposed to Universities from all over the world – they have the opportunity to converse directly with the University Reps.

35th Birthday Celebration
We are proud of our school as we celebrate 35 years in existence! It was tremendous to have the school community come together to celebrate this important date in the history of the school. It was particularly pleasing to see that we have returned to our original name – the International School of Busan – ISB! Welcome back.
Along with the return of ISB, a long-standing tradition at the school, the House System has been resurrected at ISB. For the past 10 or so years, the school has been operating with three of the four original Houses – Jirisan, Soraksan and Hallasan. But hunting through the archives and talking with some long-serving members of the school teaching staff, a fourth House was previously in existence. Well, now it is back! Gayason is making a triumphant return to the school. Today, we experienced the first of many friendly ‘inter-house’ competitions. The students threw themselves into the action and really seemed to enjoy themselves.
Managebac in the Secondary School
Managebac is our student learning management platform. It is a very powerful system that allows the curriculum at BIFS to be clearly constructed and easily adjusted over the course of the year. It is also a tremendous tool for parents, as it allows you to view the progress of your child. Amongst other features, it enables you to see the homework that has been set, major assignments and their due dates, comments made by teachers on specific pieces of work etc. Once access has been established, I encourage all parents to check Managebac on a regular basis and to communicate directly with teachers as issues arise.
Here is a link to the form Mr Gysbers has created to begin the process of allowing you access to ManageBac: https://goo.gl/forms/
When able, please respond to this Google Form. Mr Gysbers will send you a welcome e-mail that comes straight from ManageBac. He will also send you a personal e-mail saying that you should have received a welcome e-mail (just in case it didn’t arrive) along with a video explaining the parent portal. Mr Gysbers is happy to have an information session for parents should there be sufficient demand.
