Nike comes to BIFS!

Korea’s Innovation Director – Mr Brian Santa Maria

Our school was privileged to host Mr Brian Santa Maria last Friday for a very interesting and engaging talk about product design and innovation.  Mr Santa Maria works as a design innovator for Nike Korea – and he is also a parent here at the school.  He treated many teachers and the Grade 8 class to an interactive workshop on Friday afternoon that will serve the students well as a prompt for their work on the upcoming ‘Dragons Den’ unit.  This unit will be worked on carefully over the next two months and spans Design and Individuals and Societies classes.  It is an interdisciplinary unit and experience for the students – a key component of a strong MYP programme at any international school.
Sincere thanks to Mr Santa Maria for his time and efforts.  Well appreciated.  It was an interesting, engaging and very relevant workshop for our students.
We look forward now to our students drawing some inspiration for the workshop and coming up with some innovations of their own that will be tested in the Dragon’s Den come October 18th.

Back to School Night – Secondary

On Wednesday, September 12th at 6:00 pm we will be hosting our annual Secondary “Back to School” Night. Parents will have the opportunity to get a glimpse of what their children do during the school day. You will be given a grade level schedule and will move from class to class on a rotating basis. You will be able to meet each of your child’s subject teachers and learn about current and upcoming units of study.  Below is a schedule for the night.

Please take the time to sit down with your child and review the schedule (attached) to assist you with your upcoming adventure. This is especially true for those with children in grade 11 and 12. Please e-mail me, [email protected] if you have any questions.

6:00pm – 6.10pm – Introduction – Secondary Hall, 5th floor, C Building.

6:15 – 8.15 approx. – Classroom visits (following grade level schedules)

I look forward to seeing many of you on Wednesday 12th  September.
