SKAC MS Vball Divisionals @ ISK
Both the Middle School Girl’s and Boys Teams ventured down to Keoje Island for the South Korean Activities Conference(SKAC) MS Vball Divisionals at the International School of Keoje. The girls did extremely well, not only participating but dominating the tournament. They finished the tournament with a terrific record of 4 wins and no losses. The two boys team fared reasonably well with the A team winning 3 and losing 1, while the boys B team secured 1 victory and lost 3. Overall it was great for the students to participate in a well organised and exciting tournament on Keoje.

Canadian Math Contests for grades 9 and 10
We have many talented mathematicians at our school, and so we would like to offer students a chance to participate in international mathematics competitions.
The first will be on February 28, 2018, when The University of Waterloo is hosting their annual math contests for students in grades 9, 10, and 11. The contests are listed below.
Pascal Contest – Grade 9 and below
Cayley Contest – Grade 10 and below
Students will be given 60 minutes to complete 25 multiple-choice questions. Early questions require only concepts found in the grade level curriculum. The last few questions are designed to test ingenuity and insight, so these will be more difficult and complex. Rather than testing content, most of the contest problems test logical thinking and mathematical problem-solving.
The math teachers will be promoting these contests in class, but your support will be appreciated.
Interested students and parents can contact Ms. Suh at [email protected] by February 9, 2018, to register to write these contests. The school will cover the entrance fees. The contests run 70 minutes (60 minutes to write, 10 minutes to prepare) and will be conducted after school on February 28.
Sincerely,
Jacqueline Suh
