2024-25 Academic Year

The aim of the Academic Scholarship Programme is to foster and celebrate academic excellence. Scholarships are awarded to candidates who demonstrate outstanding academic ability, based on aptitude and potential. Academic Scholarships are awarded at the following grade levels:
 

  • Grade 9:   Age 14+  (Max. age limit: 15 years)

  • Grade 10:  Age 15+  (Max. age limit: 16 years)

  • Grade 11:   Age 16+  (Max. age limit: 17 years)

The ISB Academic Scholarship 2024/2025

 

The aim of the Academic Scholarship Programme is to foster and celebrate academic excellence. Scholarships are awarded to candidates who demonstrate outstanding academic ability, based on aptitude and potential. Academic Scholarships are awarded at the following grade levels:

 

  • Grade 9  – Age 14+ (Max. age limit: 15 years)

  • Grade 10 – Age 15+ (Max. age limit: 16 years)

  • Grade 11 – Age 16+ (Max. age limit: 17 years)


 

Scholarship Categories

 

  • Scholarships with a tuition fee concession of 100% 

  • Scholarships with a tuition fee concession of 75% 

  • Scholarships with a tuition fee concession of 50%

  • Honorary Scholarships with no fee concession

 

Please note that these concessions apply to tuition fees only.

They do not include payments for transport, cafeteria, enrolment,

technology or capital development fee.


 

Scholarship Details

 

Scholarships are determined in open competition at a fixed level set by the school and are non-negotiable.
Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Academic Scholarship Selection Panel, comprising the Head of School, Secondary Principal, Board Chair, and Board Treasurer.  
The number of scholarships can vary from year to year depending upon the caliber of candidates who apply.
All scholarships are reviewed on a quarterly basis to ensure that attainment and commitment are being maintained at the standard expected of an academic scholar.
Scholarships may be withdrawn at any time if a scholar does not maintain the expected standards. (An average grade of

5 or above must be maintained).
An ISB Scholarship is a prestigious award that unashamedly targets the very best scholars. As a step to an excellent university, it is of significant benefit to a student.


 

Who May Apply?

 

  • Students between the ages of 14 and 17 years of age. 

  • Korean nationals who have resided overseas for three years or more.

  • International students residing in Korea.

  • Students who have a parent or guardian employed by a company that pays or reimburses their employees’ school fees are only eligible to apply for an Honorary Scholarship. 

  • Existing ISB students are only eligible for the Honorary Scholarship. 

  • Students who have a parent or guardian who is a member of the Educational Leadership Team or Board of Governors are only eligible for the Honorary Scholarship. 


 

Scholarship Application Process:

 

  • Submission of Application

  • Scholarship Assessment Day for shortlisted candidates – Assessment (English and Mathematics), Group Discussion, and Interview.

  • Scholarships announced


 

Key Dates for August 2024 Entry:

 

Application deadline: 12th April 2024
Invitations for Assessment Day sent to shortlisted candidates: 19th April 2024
Scholarship Assessment Day: 2nd May 2024

 

Applications Include;

 

MYP Candidate to complete:

 

  1. Explain in a personal statement why you would like to study at the International School of Busan. How will an IB education help you achieve your goals? (350-500 words)

  2. At the end of the MYP, you will have to complete a Personal Project inspired by one of your talents or passions. Outline a proposal for a possible Personal Project in 350-500 words.

 

DP Candidate to complete:

 

  1. Explain in a personal statement why you would like to study at the International School of Busan. How will an IB education help you achieve your goals? (350-500 words)

  2. During the Diploma Programme, you will have to write an Extended Essay (Research Paper) of 4000 words on a topic from one of the subjects you are currently studying. Outline an extended essay (research paper) proposal in 500 words.


 

 

The Academic Scholarship is limited to 5 students at any one time, consisting of:

1 x 100% Scholarship

2 x 75% Scholarship

2 x 50% Scholarship
